8 Day Safari to Murchison Falls & Kidepo Valley National Parks

This tour includes a visit to Murchison Falls National Park-Uganda’s largest conservation area, through Gulu to Kidepo National Park. Despite being Uganda’s most isolated national park, Kidepo Valley ranks among Africa’s finest wilderness. It lies in the rugged, semi-arid valleys between Uganda’s boarders with Sudan & Kenya. It has a profusion of big games and hosts over 77 mammal species as well as a round 475 bird species.

Description

Day 1. Arrival in Uganda

Welcome to Uganda. On arrival at Entebbe international airport for your amazing Ugandan safari vacation, you will be met by your guide who will then transfer you to a hotel in Kampala for a night.

Day 2. Rest and Recuperation

Spend your the day at the hotel recouping from the jet lag and the general flight fatigue. In the evening you will be taken to Ndeere cultural center for a traditional cultural immersion musical entertainment before retiring to your hotel for another night in Kampala.

Day 3. To Murchison Falls National Park

Rise early for breakfast, before beginning the scenic drive to Murchison Falls National Park. On arrival in the park, check-in to your lodge and after resting proceed for an afternoon/evening game-drive. On this drive herd of buffalos & elephants, well camouflaged leopards & a healthy population of lions can be seen. Also giraffes, Jackson’s hartebeest, Uganda kob, waterbucks, & warthogs can be seen.  Return to your accommodation for overnight.

Day 4. Murchison Falls National Park

Wake up to the call of nature, have breakfast and embark on early morning game drive, where you may see Elephant, Lion, Buffalo, Giraffe, Hartebeests and many more. You will return to the lodge early enough to enjoy the rest of the morning at leisure, and later have lunch.

In the afternoon, proceed for a boat trip on the placid Victoria Nile, upstream, to the base of the fall. En route you will see hippos, crocodiles, water buck and a wide variety of birds like the unusual shoebill stork.  This tranquil sundown cruise offers the classic view of the equatorial sunset reflected in the river. The boat stops just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. Take pictures of the photogenic and majestic Murchison Falls. Disembark from the boat and take a hike to the Top of the fall where you can see the Nile’s BEAUTY PERFECTED as it plunges 45meters down.

Day 5. To Kidepo Valley National Park

After an early breakfast, sign out of the lodge and head to Kidepo Valley National Park via Gulu & Kitgum with lunch en route. On arrival in the park, check in your lodge, rest and later in the afternoon engage in an evening game drive. The park ranger will help you spot the lions that may be sitting on the valley’s various rocks, other wildlife include elephants, leopards, bush duiker, jackal, bushbuck, bush pig, ostrich, buffalos and much in the wild Narus valley. Return to your lodge for the night.

Day 6. Kidepo Valley National Park.

After an early morning breakfast, embark on a morning game drive to watch those animals that you might have missed in the evening drive. Return early to your lodge for lunch and resting before engaging in a cultural encounter with the Lorokul cultural group. Discover the unique culture of this remote tribe, the Karamojong. Their social & cultural importance will be explained as you walk with the guides to the traditional Karamajong manyattas (home steads), granaries & cattle enclosures. Learn how the villagers make their distinctive beads, sample the local cuisine and even meet the Karamojong King who will narrate the tribe’s folklore.

Return to your lodge for the night.

Day 7. Return to Kampala

Check out of the lodge after break and start on estimated 10-hour drive to Kampala, arrive in Kampala in the evening and check into your hotel for the night.

Day 8. Departure.

Your guide will pick you up in the morning after breakfast, to take you around the craft markets in town, with lunch in a selected restaurant, and later transfer you to Entebbe international airport for your flight back home.
